Wednesday Lenten Services - “Signs of Lent”

During our Wednesday Lenten services we will be using a series based on the concept of road signs and how their messages apply to our life in Christ during the season of Lent: U-Turn, Stop, Merge, Yield, One Way, Dead End, Road Narrows, Food, Cross Road, Work Ahead. On Wednesdays join us at 11:30am and 7:30pm. The evening service is followed by fellowship.

Coupons for Troops

The Elwood Library no longer accepts the coupons we have been collecting but there is another way to send the coupons through Support Our Troops. Thank you to Desirie Burns who has volunteered to cut and sort the coupons. Can anyone help package and mail them to the collection site? Call Angela Casano at 680-6813.

ELC Food Pantry

March is CLC volunteer month at the food pantry in Northport. A volunteer is needed on Monday and Tuesday from 9:30-10:00 am to bring items in from a truck delivery at the pantry site in Northport If you would like to volunteer, please call Angela Casano at 680-6813 and I will let the director know. The pantry is located on the west side of the Northport Presbyterian Church on the corner of Church St. and Main St. in Northport Village.

March is Soles for Souls Month

March is “Soles 4 Souls” month. Bring your shoes, boots and sneakers to the two collection boxes. No shoes in shoe boxes, please! The shoes are distributed throughout our country and then across the world. Questions - please call Angela Casano at 680-6813.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity has reached out to us and asked if we can help with a house project in Roosevelt in Nassau County on Saturday, March 23rd. The work will be indoors - helping with insulation and drywall. The hours are 9am - 3pm and we can meet at CLC to carpool If you are able to help please add your name to the sign up sheet on the CLC bulletin board. Questions - Call Angela Casano at 680-6813.

Contemporary Worship

Contemporary Worship is currently examining the songs of the Christian rock group “Tenth Avenue North”. During Lent we’ll be examining the Knot Prayer and how God can untangle the knots in our lives. Come and join us every Sunday at 11:15am in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.

Bible Study

Wednesday morning Bible Study continues with a discussion about Rob Bell’s book “What is the Bible?” Next up will be a discussion of Wesley Granberg-Michaelson’s bookFuture Faith: Ten Challenges Reshaping Christianity in the 21st Century”. Join us Wednesday mornings at 9:30am.

Sunday School Christmas Pageant Photos

Service on the Sound Photos

We had our annual Service on the Sound at Sunken Meadow Beach. The weather was beautiful and it was our best-attended service yet. Some folks on the boardwalk joined our service as well. The picnic after the service was our biggest and best ever. There’s not enough room in this post to describe all the food but you can check some of it out in the last photo (there were a few other tables of food not pictured in the photo). Thanks to Deanne Emory, Barbara Haerter, Liisa May and their volunteers for coordinating this event and a big thanks to Howard Johnson for supplying a huge amount of food – everyone went home with leftovers and we gave the rest to other picnickers.
